Networks provide opportunities for members, regardless of race/ethnicity or gender, with a common research interest to interact with one another; to work on scientific papers or positions; to develop educational webinars and pre-conference workshops; and to address and influence significant issues in the field of nicotine and tobacco research.
All SRNT members are eligible to participate in one or more Networks.
Each Network is led by an Advisory Committee which is appointed by the President with Board approval. Advisory Committees also serve as resources, providing guidance in their respective fields across all aspects of SNRT (including membership, journal, conference and website).
Unless specifically requested by the president, members of Networks and their Advisory Committees are not authorized to represent SRNT to any outside individual or body.
The Adolescent Network covers all aspects of nicotine and tobacco research conducted with adolescents. Most smoking and tobacco use is initiated during adolescence, making this distinct developmental stage of particular relevance for tobacco researchers.
The mission of the adolescent network is to:
- advance the state of the science in the area of adolescent nicotine and tobacco research, particularly research that informs approaches to adolescent tobacco treatment and cessation, as well as research that addresses methodological issues related to adolescent tobacco research;
- promote networking among SRNT members whose research focuses on adolescent populations;
