Regular Member
Membership in this category confers the privileges of voting and holding elective office. This category is for people with experience or demonstrated participation in nicotine/tobacco scientific research including but not limited to pre-clinical, clinical, public health, and public policy research with scientific, health professional, or training beyond the undergraduate level.
Student/Trainee Member
This membership category is for people who are enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate-level training program in a relevant field.
Recent Graduate
For people within the first two years of receipt of their terminal degree.
Retired Member
For retirees engaging in part-time paid employment, totaling no more than 20 hours per week.

SRNT Dues Schedule
- $385.00 US: For-Profit Sector (Includes pharmaceutical, ENDs, or other industries; consulting firms; for-profit research companies, for-profit hospitals and clinics; and any other company/organization/business that is not a part of the non-profit sector.)
- $245.00 US: Not-For-Profit Sector (Includes non-profit community/health/education organizations; government; non-profit hospitals/clinics; or any other organization that is not for-profit.
- $35.00 US: High Middle Income Country
- $20.00 US: Low Middle Income Country
- $5.00 US: Low Income Country
Please Note: In order to qualify for the LMIC membership dues, you must live and work in an LMIC. Membership discounts (lower income, not-for-profit sector, retired, and recent graduates) will be adjusted at the end of the registration process.

- SRNT’s membership year is based on the calendar year and SRNT does not pro-rate dues.
- Persons employed by the traditional tobacco product manufacturers (i.e. cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco) or companies wholly or partially owned by a traditional tobacco product manufacturer are ineligible for membership in SRNT. Updated January 1, 2020
- Dues categories are based on economies as defined by the World Bank. A list of countries according to global economies is available at The World Bank.

SRNT and the Commercial Tobacco Industry
MEMBERSHIP: Employees of the commercial tobacco industry and their wholly or partially owned subsidiaries are ineligible for membership in SRNT.
CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE: Employees of the commercial tobacco industry and their wholly or partially owned subsidiaries are ineligible to attend the SRNT Annual Meeting or other Society-sponsored activities/events.
INDUSTRY-FUNDED RESEARCH: Research funded by an entity that is part of the commercial tobacco industry, including wholly or partially owned subsidiaries, is ineligible for publication in Nicotine & Tobacco Research or presentation at the SRNT Annual Meeting. This policy applies to all submissions that have, at any point in the research lifecycle, had a connection to the commercial tobacco industry, either through funding or author employment. For example, if an author no longer works for a commercial tobacco manufacturer but did at the time the paper/research was initiated OR completed, that paper or abstract is ineligible for submission. This applies to all authors on the paper or abstract, and contributors, researchers or advisory group members acknowledged for their role in the research.
ANNUAL MEETING SPONSORSHIP: SRNT will not accept as Annual Meeting Sponsors or Exhibitors any company that is part of or funded by the commercial tobacco industry.
REVIEWERS: Neither Nicotine & Tobacco Research (NTR) nor the SRNT Program Committee will use as reviewers any individuals who are employed by the commercial tobacco industry or a wholly or partially owned subsidiary.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT: SRNT will not accept funding in any amount, for any purpose, from any entity that is part of the commercial tobacco industry, nor will it invest its Reserve funds in any financial instrument known to benefit the commercial tobacco industry.
SRNT retains and reserves the sole and unfettered right to determine its membership. Membership may be granted, denied, conditioned, or limited for any reason at SRNT’s sole discretion. Membership likewise may be terminated at any time, and criteria for membership or participation in SRNT events may change, with or without notice. Membership may also be limited such that persons may be allowed only certain membership privileges or a defined scope of participation in SRNT events or publications. SRNT reserves all rights regarding its members and membership.
Definition of the “Commercial Tobacco Industry” for the Purpose of SRNT Policies
SRNT defines the commercial tobacco industry as any manufacturer, marketer, distributor, or importer of a commercial tobacco product. Included in SRNT’s definition of the commercial tobacco industry are marketing/PR firms, legal firms, commercial tobacco industry-sponsored advocacy groups, and private foundations that have received or continue to receive funding from the commercial tobacco industry. Also included are any wholly or partially owned subsidiaries, including but not limited to commercial nicotine product manufacturers.
