Call for 2026 Awards Nominations

SRNT is seeking nominations for SRNT’s 2026 Scientific Awards, which will be presented in Baltimore during the 2026 Annual Meeting. Please nominate a colleague for one of the following prestigious awards:

Doll-Wynder Clinical Research Award

Honors scientists who have made groundbreaking advances in public health, public policy or epidemiological research; research must be focused on describing, understanding or preventing tobacco use or research on the consequences of smoking on populations of smokers. Nominees do not have to be members of SRNT.

The recipient will receive a plaque, waived 2026 conference registration, and a $500 honorarium to help offset travel expenses to Baltimore.

Jarvik-Russell Early Career Award

Honors SRNT members who have made extraordinary contributions to the field of nicotine and tobacco research within 7 years of receiving their terminal degree. Pre-clinical researchers will be considered for such contributions within 10 years of receiving their terminal degree in recognition of the time it takes for researchers working in this unique discipline to achieve independence and impact on the field.

The recipient will receive a plaque, waived 2026 conference registration, and a $500 honorarium to help offset travel expenses to Baltimore.

Pebbles Fagan Health Equity Research Award

Honors SRNT members who have made outstanding contributions to public health and minoritized communities through health-equity research.

The recipient will receive a plaque, waived 2026 conference registration, and a $500 honorarium to help offset travel expenses to Baltimore.

Mira Aghi Award for LMIC Research

Honors SRNT members living and working in a low- or middle-income country and have made outstanding contributions to the field of nicotine and tobacco research, cessation, public health or tobacco control.

The recipient will receive a plaque, waived 2026 conference registration, and a $500 honorarium to help offset travel expenses to Baltimore.

John Slade Public Health/Policy Award

Honors SRNT members who have made outstanding contributions to public health and tobacco control through science-based public policy and public advocacy.

The recipient will receive a plaque, waived 2026 conference registration, and a $500 honorarium to help offset travel expenses to Baltimore.

The Awards Committee strongly encourages nominations that represent the diversity of SRNT’s membership. If you know of a colleague who would make a good candidate for one of these prestigious awards, please write a letter of nomination describing, in detail, the nominee’s accomplishments in the given field of research or activity. Staff will follow up with nominees to obtain CVs and other information requested by the Awards Committee.

Nominations must be received by Friday, September 19.
