Who We Are

Our Mission:

To foster collaboration and researcher development on, and dissemination of, nicotine and tobacco policy research and regulatory science, with the purpose of providing scientific evidence to researchers, clinicians, policymakers, regulators, and the public that can inform decision-making to improve global population health.

Our goals:

  • Provide networking, educational, and professional development opportunities for SRNT members and SRNT Networks working in the area of nicotine and tobacco policy research and regulatory science.
  • Dissemination of evidence to researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and regulators about effective nicotine and tobacco policy and regulation strategies that have the potential to improve global population health (e.g., reducing smoking prevalence).
  • Provide guidance to the SRNT Board and committees as necessary to better inform programs and/or discussions that are relevant to nicotine and tobacco policy research and regulatory science.
  • Undertake project initiatives that contribute to the evidence base that is relevant to nicotine and tobacco policy research and regulatory science.
  • Foster communication and collaboration with relevant global organizations to advance the role of SRNT as a global partner regarding nicotine and tobacco policy research and regulatory science.
  • Implementation of working groups within the PRSN to address priority areas in nicotine and tobacco policy research and regulatory science. 
  • Support and foster engagement and involvement of new scientists and researchers interested in nicotine and tobacco policy research and regulatory science, with specific focus on, and support for, under-represented populations and outreach to LMIC countries.
