Racial Equity Task Force

In light of events that have brought into sharp focus the issue of racism, including systematic racism, in the US and many parts of the world, the SRNT Board of Directors seated the Racial Equity Task Force to address issues of racial equity across all levels of our Society and our science.

While the focus for the Task Force was on racial equity, it is acknowledged that recommendations will likely apply to other marginalized groups and populations.

THE FINAL REPORT

The Final Report of the SRNT Racial Equity Task Force was accepted by the Board of Directors in January, 2022. The Final Report can be found here.

Next steps include seating a new, standing Racial Equity Committee that will help the Board draft and implement the Racial Equity Roadmap. The Roadmap will outline how Task Force recommendations will be implemented across SRNT, prioritizing short-, medium-, and long-term goals.

RACIAL EQUITY TASK FORCE PURPOSE

To identify and recommend changes within SRNT to ensure that our Society is anti-racist and promotes racial equity, within SRNT, itself, as well as the field of nicotine/tobacco research.
