A new chapter in the history book of SRNT: the SRNT Europe Chapter

It is with great pleasure that we announce the formation of SRNT-Europe (SRNT-E) as a formal, self-charted chapter of SRNT. We are breaking new ground with this endeavor, and are pleased about the potential growth of SRNT membership throughout Europe as a result.

However, membership in SRNT-E will not be limited to those living or working in Europe; all SRNT members are invited to join!

As we look to the future, SRNT-E will continue to present its annual conference (our recent Bath meeting broke attendance records with more than 450 participants!) and we hope to welcome you all at the next RSNT-E meeting in Antalya ( www.srnteu2011.org). We will look for ways for SRNT-E to engage with the European Union, as well as individual countries and the FCTC, in areas including tobacco control policy and increased funding support for nicotine and tobacco research.

Because we are becoming a formal organization, we must, of course, raise funds to support these and other activities. The Board of SRNT-E has endeavored to keep our first year dues as low as possible: the cost for student members to belong to SRNT-E will be $5 (US); the cost for all others will be $15 (US).

Please note that membership in SRNT is a pre-requisite for membership in the new European chapter. You will have an opportunity to join the new SRNT-E chapter as part of the upcoming SRNT membership dues renewal.

We look forward to serving the members of the new chapter through increased educational opportunities (including registration discounts for chapter members), the promotion of nicotine and tobacco research, and contributing to policy making throughout this part of the world.

The dates and locations for the 2011 and 2012 annual meetings of SRNT Europe have now been finalized. Please put these dates in your diaries, and we look forward to seeing you there.
